Membership
Membership in WEASSP is open to the following:All individuals actively employed in the school districts, colleges or universities receiving funds under State of Wisconsin P-5, Title I, Pre-College Programs
Retired or former staff members of P-5/ Title I, Pre-College Programs, (c) Parents or guardians of students served by the P-5, Title I, and Pre-College Programs
Organizations or corporations which support the purposes of WEASSP and desire to contribute resources of personnel services or financial capital
Other organizations who support the goals and purpose of WEASSP.
Benefits of Membership:
- Participate in activities that enhance personal and professional growth.
Become aware of the scope of P-5, Title I, and Pre-College Programs and improve communication networks among school staff members in participating districts.
Become aware of the scope of statewide pre-college programs and the availability of Pre-College Scholarships.
Learn about effective strategies for parents to use in assisting their children.
Create an awareness among legislators of or programs and who we are.
Facilitate the development of an effective multicultural curriculum.
Facilitate continuous education and support for all children, parents, and others associated with P-5, Title I and Pre-College Programs.
Student Benefits:
- Students benefit tremendously from these organized efforts. They benefit from an increased focus on all three programmatic initiatives. A concentration on academic deficit and a plan to rectify those deficits are a major concern for all participants.
Students are directly involved in many of the activities, from WEASSP student conference, P-5 and Title I planned activities by teachers and principals, to participating in more than 100 Pre-College academic camp opportunities. Increased involvement and planned activities for parents are also critical to insure that students benefit.
Students are the center and focus of attention whatever is planned and the ultimate objective is to close the achievement gap which is best accomplished when everyone is fully cooperating and collaborating to bring about the successful achievement of all student.
